Our Program Our program starts with the mares. We work with all of our mares to ensure they are safe and easy to work with before the babies are born. We like all of our horses to have good ground manners with, the farrier, the vet and visitors. All of our mares lead, tie, load into trailers, bathes and are easy to catch. |

The foals are started early we do not imprint our foals because our mares are so easy to work with the foals are eager to accept human contact. All of our foals are taught to lead, tie, accept grooming, accept having their hooves lifted and trailer to early in life, in short 10 minute sessions. We believe that consistent daily work produces a willing happy baby. |
|
As the horses progress we introduce them to the round pen where they learn voice commands and how to yield. We move our horses forward, backward and side to side. We also touch them all over their bodies so that all human contact is accepted and enjoyed. The round pen is where tack is introduced and all of our horses, work on the lunge and on long lines. |

We start our horses under saddle at 4 years of age. We are never in a hurry to get on any horses back. We take our time in all phases. Once the horses can walk, trot, canter and yield forward, backward and side to side in the round pen we move out to the arena. In the arena we start again and work the horses at the walk, trot, canter and yield forward, backward and side to side. (Yes we ride western too!) |
||
Next we start to take the horses out. Either to shows where they are not entered but get the opportunity to hang out and be ridden in a new environment or we take them to a new arena or out on the trail. Our belief is that a happy well rounded horse will stay saner and sounder for a lifetime. |
